BADDANCER F.A.Q.
What is BADDANCER?
BADDANCER is a Fallout 76 companion site built around three public areas:
- Challenges — create and track a personal run, then share the completed result.
- Wiki — search Fallout 76 items, plans, quests, mods, recipes, locations, and game properties.
- Feed — check launch codes, Minerva, the season, community events, and recent player activity.
You can browse the Wiki and Feed without an account. You need an account to create and manage challenges.
How do I start a challenge?
- Create an account or sign in.
- Open New Challenge.
- Choose a goal from the catalog, or select a Wiki item or quest.
- Pick the timer type, set any goal parameters, and start the run.
The optional title builder is only a name for your run. Your current objective is the important part and can change later without resetting the timer.
What is the difference between Wall Time and Game Time?
- Wall Time is real elapsed time from the start of the run to its completion.
- Game Time measures active play only. Time spent while the challenge is paused is excluded.
Choose the timer that matches what you want to prove before starting. BADDANCER records event times on the server, so the same timer is used on the active page, the overlay, and the final snapshot.
Can I pause a run or record milestones?
Yes. On an active challenge you can pause and resume the timer, add checkpoints, and review the recent timeline. Checkpoints keep the run readable later: use them for important moments such as a build change, a boss kill, a route milestone, or a completed collection step.
Can I change the goal after I start?
Yes. Use the active challenge controls to change the main goal. The timer and previous events remain intact, and the final snapshot keeps the chronology of the run instead of pretending that the earlier objective never existed.
How do subgoals work?
Subgoals break a larger run into visible progress. Depending on the goal, they can represent Wiki items, collection counts, levels, or catalog-defined steps.
While your run is active, you can add supported subgoals, edit quantities or levels, complete them, or delete mistakes. Completion can include an optional acquisition note such as bought, dropped, found, or gifted. Your active challenge and subgoal capacity depend on your Dweller class, so use the limits shown in your account and challenge form.
What happens when I complete a challenge?
Completing a run creates a permanent, shareable snapshot with the final objective, timers, subgoal progress, checkpoints, and event history. Open the snapshot link to share the result; it remains readable even if the Wiki changes later.
Very short completed runs — under three minutes of active gameplay — are automatically removed to keep test runs out of public activity. If you want to run the same idea again, use the repeat action on an eligible challenge or snapshot to start a fresh copy.
Can I show my stream or add video proof?
During an active run, you can attach a supported YouTube or Twitch stream link. The active page also provides an OBS Browser Source overlay link for the current objective, timer, progress, subgoals, and recent events.
After an eligible run is completed, video proof links can be submitted during the window shown on the page. The number of links and the submission deadline are configured by the site and displayed in the proof form. Use only valid HTTPS links from supported providers; pasted iframe code is not accepted.
What is the OBS overlay?
The overlay is a public, read-only browser page for OBS. Copy its link from your active challenge, add it to OBS as a Browser Source, and keep the page open. It refreshes the current objective, timer, subgoals, and recent events automatically. It does not give OBS or viewers control over your run.
How do I use the Wiki?
Start from Wiki search. Search by item name, FormID, or EditorID, then narrow results by type, category, and subcategory. An item page can include stats, level scaling, compatible mods, crafting recipes, locations, legendary properties, and community-written notes when available.
Wiki data is based on Fallout 76 game data and is updated over time. A missing detail means it has not been imported or described yet; it does not mean that the item does not exist in the game.
What is on the Feed?
The Feed is the quick status page for current Fallout 76 information. It can show weekly launch codes, Minerva's location and inventory, the season countdown, community calendars, and recent public challenge activity.
Some widgets are updated automatically and some are maintained by the site team. For event history and calendars, open Community Calendar.
Do I need to verify my email?
Yes. A verified email protects account recovery and is required before a normal password login can create challenges. If you cannot sign in, first check your verification message and then use password recovery when necessary. Social sign-in buttons appear only when that provider is available.
How do English and Russian versions work?
The language is part of every URL. Use /en/ for English and /ru/ for Russian, or switch language in the site shell. BADDANCER uses English as the fallback when a Russian translation is not available, so a page stays usable instead of displaying an empty field.
I cannot start, edit, or find something. What should I check?
- Make sure you are signed in and your email is verified.
- Check whether you already have the maximum number of active challenges for your class.
- Confirm that the goal or Wiki item is selected before starting.
- On an active run, use the current challenge page rather than an old snapshot link for edits.
- For a stream or proof link, use a complete HTTPS YouTube or Twitch URL.
- If a Wiki search returns no result, try the in-game name, FormID, or EditorID and remove extra punctuation.
